Children’s Dental Health Month
As part of National Children’s Dental Health Month in February, local dentists in San Luis Obispo are travelling to nearby schools to screen students for cavities and other dental issues before they can become serious health problems.
Dr. Ian Leopold is providing free dental health screenings for students at Bishop’s Peak Elementary School in San Luis Obispo on Thursday, February 1st from 8:00 to 10:00AM.
“Children’s teeth are meant to last a lifetime,” said Dr. Ian Leopold. “With proper brushing and flossing, a balanced diet, and regular dental visits, their teeth can remain healthy and strong. It’s important that we catch any dental issues early and instill good habits from the start.”
Dr. Leopold recommends that parents schedule their child’s first dental appointment by age one. To get more information, call us at (805) 541-0550.
If your child is a student at Bishop’s Peak Elementary, there is no need to register for the program. If your child attends another local elementary school, check with your administration office to see when your school’s oral health screenings will be held.
If you would like any additional details on the Dental Health Screening Program, contact Laurie Torgenson at the Central Coast Dental Society at (805) 544-1113. National Children’s Dental Health Month is nationally recognized by the ADA, CDA, First 5 California, and others. On Tuesday, February 6th at 1:30PM the Central Coast Dental Society will propose a declaration to the Board of Supervisors to make February Children’s Dental Health Month in San Luis Obispo County.
