Dr. Ian Leopold has followed in family tradition, joining his father, Dr. Mark Leopold, and uncle, Dr. Nicholas Murphy, at our San Luis Obispo practice in the fall of 2010.
Ian grew up in San Luis Obispo and received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Cal Poly. While attending school, he worked in our dental lab preparing crowns and other restorations. He returned to the practice after graduating with honors from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in 2010.
In addition to general and family dentistry, Ian has a special interest in the dental surgical disciplines. He completed the fellowship program with the California Implant Institute, and continued his education in advanced surgical techniques. Dr. Leopold is also proud to be the sole Novadontics Smile provider in all of San Luis Obispo, Monterey, and Santa Barbara counties.
In his spare time he enjoys being at home with his wife Jackie, two daughters Sadie and Mia, hiking, cooking, fishing, and playing tennis.
A New Hampshire native, Dr. Morgan first moved to California to earn her Bachelor of Science in Microbiology at the University of California, Davis. She went on to graduate top of her class at Roseman University, College of Dental Medicine, in Utah, where she received multiple awards including Outstanding Clinician Award and Distinguished Patient Centered Care Award.
Since 2016, Dr. Morgan has spent her career practicing advanced restorative dentistry techniques. She is passionate about patient centered care, collaborating with patients on customized treatment plans, providing clear explanations and helping patients feel comfortable with any procedure or recommendation. Dr. Meredith Morgan believes that every patient deserves the highest quality of comprehensive dental care with state-of-the-art technology and a gentle touch.
On those sunny Central Coast days, Dr. Morgan enjoys spending time with her husband, Quinn, and daughter, Hyla, at the beach and in their native plant garden.
We are pleased to introduce Dr. Ericka Ryan, your new dentist! Dr. Ryan brings her expertise and warm, approachable presence to support the long-term oral health of all her patients. She believes exceptional dentistry includes taking the time to educate patients about their dental concerns and treatment options, as well as how to prevent oral health issues in the future. Dr. Ryan is dedicated to creating a relaxed and welcoming environment to make you feel at ease during your visits, and loves helping patients enhance their confidence with a beautiful smile.
Dr. Ryan earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco in 2013. She then completed advanced training and a residency at Lutheran Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, before opening her own practice in Rockefeller Center. While in New York, she also served as a faculty member at Columbia University School of Dentistry, where she provided hands-on clinical instruction. In 2020, Dr. Ryan relocated to Austin, Texas, where she spent six years practicing in a group dental setting and providing high-quality care.
After practicing across the country for the last 13 years, Dr. Ryan is excited to return home to California and join the SLO Smiles team. She looks forward to serving the San Luis Obispo community and building lasting relationships with her patients. Outside the office, she enjoys hiking, yoga, and trying new restaurants with her husband, Russ, and 2-year-old daughter, Remi. Dr. Ryan is thrilled to call the Central Coast home, and she can’t wait to meet you.
